GOD’S UNEXPECTED PURPOSE
"But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose,
to make you a minister and a witness both of the things you have seen
and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.” Acts 26:16

Saul, before he became the Apostle Paul, was making havoc of the Church of Jesus Christ. In a moment, God’s purpose for his life took a major change. This can happen to any of us. The purpose may be clear, but not the details. Paul thought he was serving God until his encounter with Jesus on the Damacus Road. Because we are serving God today, does not mean He cannot change our field of service or purpose. God can call us at any time to another field of service.
God may be allowing us to develop the skills now for the next assignment. We do not want to be knocked off a horse like Saul.
On Saul’s way to capture Christian, he suddenly experienced a light from heaven and a call from Jesus. Trembling and astonished, Saul asked Jesus, “Lord, what do you want me to do? He was told:
1. Get up! Stand to your feet!
2. I have appeared to you for a purpose.
3. I will deliver you from the Jewish people.
4. I will deliver you from the Gentiles.
No more havoc with the Church. From Saul to the Apostle Paul. Paul’s life now had a God-given purpose. He answered the call that changed his life completely. His purpose was clearly spelled out: To open the eyes of those who are lost. To turn them from darkness to light. To turn them from the power of Satan to God.
Each believer has the same purpose. We are to enlarge the Kingdom of God. Have you asked God, “What do you want me to do?” There are so many ways to enlarge God’s Kingdom. God’s unexpected purpose may come at an unexpected time. Yes, it may come with difficulty.
Jesus was tested in the wilderness before starting His ministry. You may be tested as you carry our God’s will. Paul experienced Spiritual Warfare as he served. Yet, there is joy amid trials. Your impact in the kingdom is needed.
